Grant Woods, the formerArizona attorney generaland long-time McCain confidant, is quoted inThe Washington Posttoday saying: "There are some states that are pretty much lily-white. That's not our state," Woods said. "To be an Arizonan is to be a part of Mexico." He also said he is counting on "intelligent, compassionate people from all sides" to find a compromise on the new Arizona law. Woods and McCain have a relationship that spans their political careers and were once described as "theBatman and Robinof Arizona politics." He joins other McCain fans in criticizing the law, which U.S. Senate Candidate J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) has fully embraced.
