Support Arizona's Immigration Law Co-Sponsored by Sam Crump

Support the AZ Immigration Law
Oppose Obama's Amnesty

Arizona is the top state for illegal border crossings. Illegal aliens account for one-third of the state’s uninsured. Arizona also has one of the lowest rates of labor force participation among teens, whom compete with illegal immigrants for jobs.
On April 23rd, Governor Jan Brewer signed into law S.B. 1070. The law would make it illegal for people to knowingly transport illegal aliens, authorize law enforcement officers to ask for proof of residency if they have reasonable suspicion that an individual is in the country illegally and overturn the sanctuary policies of local governments and agencies. I co-sponsored S.B. 1070 while serving in the State Legislature and encouraged Governor Brewer to sign the bill into law.

Another measure in the law states that illegal aliens will be charged with trespassing and anyone seeking work from a road or sidewalk will also be criminally prosecuted. Drivers who pick up illegal day laborers will also be punished.

Illegal Immigration Remains the Most Critical Issue Facing Arizona
I have always believed that illegal immigration was a matter of economic and national security and a problem that the federal government should be addressing. However, the federal government has been ignoring its responsibilities for years, and Arizona needs to do what it can to protect its citizens.
The inaction of the federal government to deal with the broken immigration system made signing this bill possible. It underscores the urgent need for the Obama administration and Congress to take up border security immediately.
The new law is designed to mirror already existing federal immigration laws. Federal law currently requires aliens to register and carry their documents with them. The new law simply does the same thing. Because illegal immigrants are in violation of federal immigration laws, they can now be arrested under Arizona law.

Repeated calls to the Obama administration to assist law enforcement over the past 16 months have been ignored, so Arizona legislators had to act, because Washington would not.

The failures of the Napolitano and Obama administrations to secure the Arizona border have cost lives, caused massive property damage, and drained billions of dollars of resources from the State of Arizona.

We will take control of our southern border through the appropriate means and using the resources available to us in Arizona. As a Congressman, I will fight for secure borders and I will vote against any attempts to grant amnesty to those in this country illegally.

Already, open-border advocates are preparing lawsuits, threatening boycotts, and organizing protests. We need your support. Show the country that we are tired of waiting for the federal government to take immigration reform seriously. As a State Representative I was proud to work on the employer sanctions law that we passed in 2007. I also supported efforts to prohibit sanctuary cities and I oppose any attempt to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. For once we are doing something about the problem and not just talking about it, and I will continue to stand up on this issue in Congress. Will you stand up with me?
