Support Bill Gates for Phoenix City Council

Dear Friends,

On June 30, 2009, I was honored to be appointed as the new Phoenix City Councilman for District 3 when Councilmember Maria Baier left the City Council to become the Arizona State Land Commissioner. I wish Commissioner Baier the best in her new position. I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support that I have received from my friends and constituents. I write to you now to announce that I will be running in the November 3, 2009 special election to retain my City Council seat. This leaves a very short time to mount an effective election campaign. I am writing to ask you for your immediate assistance on two fronts:

1) We need to collect 200 signatures before July 31st. I am asking you to help me walk the district, work our signature table at the library, and ask your friends and neighbors in District 3 to sign petitions. Please contact me directly at wgates2002@cox.net and I will get the petitions to you.

2) Our campaign will need to start raising money. This will ensure that we will get our message out to the voters of District 3 right away. All donations are welcome, but please keep in mind the individual limits are $410 and the couple limit is $820. These limits are important to know when you are asking your friends and neighbors to support us. I really appreciate your willingness to donate and help raise money. We are more than happy to pick up donations or you can send all checks to:

Thank you for your help in achieving the goals we have set out in this email. The work of getting signatures and raising money will not come easy, but it will ensure that we can carry our message of outstanding constituent service, improved public safety, economic development, and an accurate 2010 census which will bring more resources and better services to every voter of District 3.

Best regards,

Bill Gates
