Franks Denounces Democrat Health Care Bill as Fiscally Irresponsible

Says Democrat Bill Will Only Worsen New Unemployment Numbers

November 6, 2009 - Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02), following the release of new unemployment figures, today issued the following statement:

"Today, Americans received yet further confirmation that Democrats' $1 trillion so-called 'stimulus' has simply not worked, as the unemployment rate has reached an incredible 10.2% -- the highest it has been in almost three decades. This figure, of course, is significantly higher than the 8% rate that the Obama Administration said would not be exceeded, if the 'stimulus' bill passed.

"Unfortunately, the Democrats controlling Congress are undeterred. Tomorrow, they seek to spend at least another $1.5 trillion on a government takeover of health care that, according to the Obama Administration itself, will result in a loss of jobs.

"In other words, the day after learning that hundreds of thousands of Americans lost their jobs last month (and that nearly 16 million Americans, overall, are unemployed), Democrats will take to the floor of the House of Representativesand seek to enact legislation that will immediately exacerbate the problem. For the sake of our nation, I urge every American to express fervent opposition to Democrats' astonishing display of fiscal irresponsibility."

According to a report released by Obama's own Council of Economic Advisors Chair, Christina Romer, Democrats' proposed taxes on businesses that cannot afford to provide the government-mandated level of health insurance for their employees could result in the loss of as many as 5.5 million jobs.

Thank you Mr. Franks,
Although I do agree we need health cre reform [jsut not from th government], what is most importatnt on the monds of the people these days is the economy. Look at ANY poll and health care is down on the lsit. I need a job, not more legislation that will not take place until 2013
