For the first time in modern history, Phoenix losing people

This is no doubt due to the crackdown on illegal immigration led by Sheriff Arpaio, County Attorney Andrew Thomas, Senator Russell Pearce, and others. Less illegal immigrants are trying to sneak into Arizona, afraid of the consequences and realizing there are fewer jobs available.

This actually has little to do with them when compared to the death of the real estate industry. As the article points out, other suburb cities aren't necessarilly seeing the same numbers.
I can promise though that if the market was still hot you wouldn't see any of this.

I have to disagree with the previous comment. The real estate bust afforded many a coyote a drop house for their human smuggling efforts. Considering that, I'd have to give credit for the decline in illegal aliens entirely to the efforts of our great Sheriff Joe.

If America had Joe running the Department of Homeland Security, this nation would be one hell of a lot safer from the ongoing invasion and other terrorist acts. But instead we're stuck with "51-foot-ladder" Janet Napolitano. God help us all.
