Members of Congress Join Day Gardner, and Rev. Clenard Childress, and other Community Leaders to Call for an End to Race- and Sex-Selection Abortion

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02), a Member of the House Judiciary Committee, will host a press conference on Tuesday to introduce the Prenatal Nondiscrimation Act (“PreNDA”). PreNDA would prohibit knowingly performing or soliciting funding for race- or sex-selection abortion.

It is estimated that as many as 50% of African-American babies conceived in the U.S. each year are eliminated by government subsidized abortion providers. Following the unearthing of the nation-wide race-targeted abortion donations,civil rights activists and African-American pastors from across the country protested government acquiescence in race-targeted abortion and the government funding of clinics that they believe are purposefully placed in the inner city and targeted to minority women.
Based on the most recent census, sex-selection abortion is also taking place in the United States. A March 2008 report published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that there is "strong son bias" and "clear evidence of sex selection, most likely at the prenatal stage." A 2006 Zogby International poll shows that 87% of the American public desires a law to ban sex selection abortion.

IC, I like this bill. I would love to know where they got their statistic. While getting this bill into law would be one step in the right direction toward making abortion illegal, eventually, I am concered that if the statistic used to promote the bill are skewed, there may be a backlash later. Do you have any information on where these statistic came from?
It's amazing. People who are normally opposed to non-discrimination and affirmative action with respect to minority employment, suddenly want to establish a non discrimination/ affirmative action program for minority abortion. What sheer and utter hypocrisy.
