ADF: Sanctity of Marriage legal efforts

Marriage in America

ADF stands ready to defend

Victory, unfortunately, isn't always final.

Voters in California thought they had protected marriage during the recent general election. But radical activist organizations and local and state government officials are intent on overthrowing the results of a fair election. They've asked the state's Supreme Court to nullify the votes of more than 7 million citizens who amended the state constitution to restore the recognition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

The ACLU, National Center for Lesbian Rights, Lambda Legal, Equality California, the City of San Francisco, and others combined to file three baseless lawsuits against Proposition 8. They also tried last summer to remove Prop. 8 from the ballot through an unsuccessful lawsuit, in which ADF was influential in defending the right for the people to vote.

Entrusting California's high court with the results of an election is not what the voters had in mind when they cast their ballots. It was this court that originally fabricated same-sex "marriage" last spring, overturning the state's Defense of Marriage Act, passed by a 61-39 percent margin in 2000.

Our Gift to You

The Homosexual Agenda outlines a 15-year strategy to institutionalize same-sex "marriage" in the United States. Who is behind it? The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the National Center for Lesbian Rights, Lambda Legal, the Human Rights Campaign, and "equality" organizations in nearly every state in the nation.

This book carefully and studiously explains their methods while offering solutions on how you can help defend marriage – the union of one man and one woman.

Your support also helps make victory final. And we need your support now more than ever because the stakes are at an all-time high. Your prayers and financial gifts provide ADF with our best opportunity to win these crucial legal cases... and prevent same-sex "marriage" from being forced on the nation.

Determined to protect the rights of California voters, an ADF ally is representing the official proponents of Prop. 8 in the legal battle to defend the amendment, and we are vigorously supporting his efforts in the defense against these frivolous lawsuits.

California isn't the only state facing serious attacks on marriage. Click on the states below to learn more:It gets worse. Even though voters in 30 states have enacted state constitutional marriage amendments in recent years, some in our federal government have served notice that the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is on deathwatch. If DOMA is repealed, marriage could be at risk in every state.

Let there be no misunderstating the fact that God's plan for marriage is under an all-out, full-scale assault by advocates of homosexual behavior, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and supporters in local, state, and federal government.

ADF and our allies continue our work on both coasts and in the Heartland to hold the line on marriage, and WE ARE WINNING!

By God's grace, ADF has won 37 of 42 marriage cases litigated to conclusion. That includes triumphs in six states where state constitutional marriage amendments had been previously challenged in courts, like in California.

By continuing with your support of ADF, you are playing a critical role in defending these attacks on marriage. By giving a special, online gift today – and as a thank you for your past support – we’ll send you a copy of The Homosexual Agenda, an eye-opening book by ADF CEO, President, and General Counsel Alan Sears and ADF Vice President of Research Craig Osten.
