(1) Countdown: 28 Days Until Election Day

While there are just four short weeks until November 4th, did you know that you don't have to wait for Election Day to vote, and you can vote in the comfort of your own home? That's right! Early balloting began last week, which means you can vote sitting at your own kitchen table and mail in your ballot before Election Day. If you are not already signed up to receive an early ballot, you can request one from your county recorder. The information you need is available at VoteSmartAZ.org. You can't beat the convenience of the early balloting system in Arizona. You can take the time needed to research the candidates and issues and vote from home.

(2) Who Do You Vote For?

If you've already gotten your early ballot, you're probably trying to figure out who to vote for. The campaign signs and commercials are everywhere, but how can you know where the candidates really stand on the issues that matter to you? Thankfully, CAP's Voter's Guide for the General Election is here with those answers! The impartial, non-partisan Guide is available online at VoteSmartAZ.org.

The Guide is factual, impartial, and nonpartisan! Every candidate in the covered races was treated equally and had the same opportunity to respond to the questions on a wide range of issues. We've also listed the phone numbers for candidates who did not respond to our survey, so you can call and ask them the same questions. Make sure you visit VoteSmartAZ.org before you cast your ballot so you can be informed.

(3) Help Needed

In the last few days, CAP has received funding commitments to enable us to print 100,000 Voter's Guides. That's a praise report! But it's also a call for action!

Now, we need your help to quickly and efficiently get these Guides out our door. We need volunteers willing to pick up copies at our office, then distribute to churches and bookstores in their communities.

Plan to visit our office and pick up Voter's Guides on:

* Friday, October 10 from 9am-5pm, or
* Saturday, October 11 from 9am-3pm

If you live outside the Valley and haven't requested fliers, posters, or printed guides for the General Election, now is the time to place your order. Talk to your pastor or church leadership, plan your order, then go to VoteSmartAZ.org and click the box that says "Help Others Vote Smart!" Help your friends, families, and fellow church members cast an informed vote on November 4 by telling them about VoteSmartAZ.org.

(4) It's a YES for Marriage Vote!

Help us spread the word! Tell your friends and neighbors! It's a YES on Prop 102 to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Don't be confused by anything else you may see this campaign season: to define marriage in our state constitution as one man and one woman, vote YES. The 20 simple and clear words of Proposition 102 read: "Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state."

(5) Want to Cut Down On Election Phone Calls?

Then get your early ballot filled out and turned in right away. Here's how this process works: you request an early ballot. It lays on your kitchen counter for days until you get around to filling it out and turning it in. At least weekly, candidates for elective office get a list of people who have requested an early ballot but not yet filled it out and mailed it in. Those candidates then give you a phone call (or two or three) and send you a piece of campaign mail (or two or three).

If you grow weary of those phone calls and campaign mail, then take time today to visit VoteSmartAZ.org. Use the information to decide which candidates line up with your viewpoint. Then fill out your early ballot and mail it in.
