Revolting Development - New Times article on Phoenix subsidy to City North development

Sarah Fenske of the Phoenix New Times has an outstanding investigative piece on the $97 million dollar subsidy City of Phoenix officials are giving to the lavish City North development project in North Phoenix. She notes this type of corporate welfare is so bad the Wall Street Journal had a piece on it, two of the City Council candidates Mayor Gordon endorsed are now running away from supporting it, and the state legislature has since passed a law prohibiting Maricopa and Pima Counties from ever doing it again. Yet - Mayor Gordon says he still does not regret the decision. The Goldwater Institute notes that if Phoenix hadn't promised the subsidy to City North, it wouldn't need to ask for a tax increase on the ballot this fall for police and firemen.
