Rep. David Schweikert endorses Matt Salmon for Congress

From Politico

First-term Arizona Rep. David Schweikert is endorsing Matt Salmon in his race for Congress, following a long string of prominent conservatives who have signed on to the former congressman's comeback effort.

The announcement in the race for Rep. Jeff Flake's open seat, provided first to POLITICO, will be unveiled later Wednesday afternoon.

Salmon has racked up the backing of Sens. Tom Coburn and John Thune as well as Reps. Trent Franks and Darrell Issa, while his primary opponent Kirk Adams has the support of Sen. Jon Kyl and Rep. Ben Quayle.

Fourth quarter fundraising reports also show Salmon outpacing Adams, $152,514 to $52,425, and holding a cash on hand advantage.

One other factor to remember: Quayle might challenge Schweikert in the 6th Congressional District, which would shape up as the most-watched primary in Arizona.
