Phoenix Bishop Thomas Olmsted first Bishop in US to defy Obama over forced Obamacare requirements

Good for Bishop Olmstead!

Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted of Phoenix has become one of the first Roman Catholic bishops in the nation to openly defy the Obama administration over new rules forcing employers to include access to contraceptives and sterilization procedures in health-insurance coverage.

Although the Catholic Church itself is exempt from the proposed regulations, Olmsted believes the federal government's decision is an attack on religious liberty. He is encouraging church members to actively oppose it.

Hi Rachel,

The Catholic Church is NOT exempt from these regulations. An exemption only applies when ALL employees are Catholic. There isn't a school, or a parish, or any Catholic organization outside of a convent or monastery that will qualify for the exemption! That is why the Bishop said: "We cannot - we will not - comply with this unjust law. People of faith cannot be made second class citizens." Every freedom-loving citizen should fight this evil edict.
