HB 2403
pUBLIC nOTICES; INTERNET

STATE CAPITOL, PHOENIX (January 27, 2012) – Representative Stevens will be holding Stakeholders Meetings every week (subject to change pending floor action) to discuss developments regarding HB 2403.

The language of the legislation accounts for the advancement in communications and increases the number of ways with which to deliver public notices. The legislation:

Ø      States that if there is a statutory requirement for a publication of a notice in a newspaper, the person responsible for the publication may publish in the newspaper or may provide notice at a designated site on a worldwide public network of interconnected computers, for at least the specified number of times as prescribed by law.
Ø      Asserts that if the number of times the notice is required to be published is unspecified, the minimum amount of time notice is given through the worldwide web is as prescribed in statute.
Representative Stevens stated, “Advancements in communications have prompted us to update our methods of delivering public notices. This will alleviate the reliance municipalities currently have on using only one medium for public notices”.
The meetings will be held every Wednesday beginning February 1st from 3:00 – 4:00 PM and will take place inside HR 038/39. Press representation is welcome.
