Interview with Andrew Thomas on United We Stand for Americans' Round Table Politics

In perhaps the most candid and lengthy interview ever, Andy explains to host Marcus Kelley why he didn't press charges against Planned Parenthood for offering to perform an abortion on Lila Rose when she performed a sting on them pretending to be a minor. He talks about his attempts to prosecute two of the County Supervisors. Marcus asked him about his record on prolife and Second Amendment issues, where he differs from his primary opponent, the more liberal Republican Tom Horne. He discusses his differences with Horne on illegal immigration, which includes disagreeing with Horne over providing taxpayer-funded education to illegal immigrant children (not even anchor babies, who are born here and are automatically U.S. citizens, but children brought over the border illegally). Thomas Will Defend AZ School Choice Issue Now Before U.S. Supreme Court Horne Opposed

U.S. Supreme Court Decides To Hear AZ School Choice Program Tom Horne Opposed In Legislature

Key Issue In Attorney General GOP Primary

PHOENIX, AZ.  MAY 24, 2010.  The U.S. Supreme Court has decided to hear arguments over Arizona’s landmark school choice legislation known as tuition tax credits.  That legislation has allowed thousands of Arizona students to enjoy better educations than they otherwise would have enjoyed.

But State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne opposed the school choice measure while serving in the legislature (April 3, 1997. HB 2074, Chapter 48, '97 regular session).

“On so many issues Tom Horne has proven himself to be a liberal, not a conservative.  And school choice is key among them.  The four Democrats running for office, and quite candidly that includes Horne, cannot be counted on to vigorously defend this law as Attorney General as must be done,” former Maricopa County Attorney and GOP Attorney General candidate Andrew Thomas said.
Thomas said he will as vigorously defend this law as aggressively as he has crackdowns on illegal immigrations supported by the legislature and voters.
Thomas has been endorsed by notable Arizona law enforcement leaders including Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Yavapai County Sheriff Steve Waugh, Mohave County Attorney Matthew Smith, Mohave County Sheriff Tom SheahanPinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu,Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever and the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA).  Arizona Right to Life has endorsed Thomas as well.
During Thomas' time in office, crime rates plummeted.  The 19 percent drop is more than twice the national rate of decline, in despite of an 11 percent increase in the county's population during that time.  The illegal immigrant population has dropped by anywhere from 18 percent (Dept. of Homeland Security estimate) to 30 percent (Center for Immigration Studies estimate). Like the fall in crime rates, this dramatic decline in illegal immigration is far greater than the average in the rest of the nation.
Thomas has a track record of successfully defending illegal immigration crackdowns in our courts, including his successful efforts to prosecute illegal immigrants for conspiring to violate the state's human-smuggling law and to defend Prop 200's voter ID requirements and the employer-sanctions law, which he defended along with the Attorney General's Office.
If elected Attorney General Thomas has pledged to expand that office's prosecutions of illegal immigrants under the state's human smuggling laws. The office is not currently pursuing such prosecutions.
Thomas is married with four children.  He is a graduate of Harvard Law School.  Prior to serving as Maricopa County Attorney, Thomas served as an assistant attorney general for Arizona, deputy counsel and criminal justice policy advisor to the Governor, special assistant to the Director of the Arizona Department of Corrections, and a deputy county attorney.
To schedule an interview please contact Jason Rose.  For more information about Andrew Thomas, please go towww.ThomasforArizona.com.

Cleaning Up Harry Mitchell's Dirty Laundry

Harry Mitchell should be ashamed of himself.
Does he stand with Arizona? Or, does he stand with the Democratic Party leadership?
It is time for Harry to stand up against the far left's call to Boycott Arizona!
My campaign is rolling-out the Boycott Harry Money Bomb today, because we need your help to win. We're going to raise $6,000 by May 26th ---That’s this Wednesday.
Why?
Because this Wednesday is the nominating petition deadline. Team Schweikert has already filed the required number of signatures, but we’ll be going in on Wednesday with more than double our numbers.
We’re going to show Harry Mitchell that we’re circling the wagons to defeat him in November.
No more bailouts, no more pork. It’s time to defend our values and our borders. Arizona's 5th District needs a Congressman that will stand up against Obama, stand up against Washington, stand up against the open-borders crowd that just doesn’t get it.
National polls show that Americans understand and support Arizona's immigration law. They understand that the federal government has refused to enforce its own immigration laws, that Arizona had to step in to protect itself, and that SB 1070 enforces what was already federal law.
And where is Harry?
He's hiding behind the Democratic Party leadership, refusing to take a position except when authorized by Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama.
Harry Mitchell hasn’t said ONE WORD condemning the far-left attacks on Arizona. We need a Congressman that will LEAD and NOT FOLLOW! We’re up against a huge war chest behind Harry Mitchell. Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi are going to protect the-Harry-they-know-they-can-count-on.
Lets send Obama, Pelosi, and Harry a message TODAY!
When you support my campaign with a $500, $250, $100, or even $25 donation, you're helping to deliver our winning message this cycle, and counter the Democratic attacks.
Can I count on your help to raise $6,000 by Wednesday? To donate by phone, please call my office at 480.302.4872.

P.S. After you’ve entered your donation, if you'll send a recommendation to ten friends, you can turn your $100 contribution into $1,000.

HAYWORTH TO ICE CHIEF "RESIGN NOW!"

JD Logo

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FRIDAY, MAY 21, 2010
NEWS RELEASE

HAYWORTH TO ICE CHIEF "RESIGN NOW!"
Phoenix, AZ (MAY 21) - U.S. Senate Candidate J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) today called on the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) "to immediately resign his position."

John Morton, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said that his agency will not necessarily process illegal immigrants referred to them by Arizona authorities.

"If you're not enforcing the law, you are encouraging lawlessness," Hayworth said. "First this administration allows the President of Mexico to lecture us about our domestic policy and now the very agency charged with protecting us says it plans to ignore the current immigration law that does protect us."

Morton said a comprehensive federal approach, rather than a patchwork of state laws is the only way to stop illegal immigration.

"Morton sounds a lot like Sen. McCain used to sound until Mr. McCain started worrying about me taking his job. But Morton should pay for this ill-advised policy by resigning from his position immediately," Hayworth said. "A comprehensive federal approach is just another way to say amnesty."

"But the people of Arizona have a better solution - if someone commits a crime and there is a possibly they are here illegally, police will ask them to provide proof of U.S. citizenship," Hayworth said.

He said the federal government should be standing with Arizona to protect our country from all illegal aliens.

"They are turning Homeland Security into a joke," Hayworth said. "Employees with Mr. Morton's attitude toward protecting this country and who are paid with taxpayer dollars need to get out of government now."

Schweikert: Friday the 13th Trillion

U.S. debt will soar beyond $13 trillion dollars tonight!
Enough is enough – if we don’t STOP this reckless government spending, America will lose forever its place as the freest, most prosperous nation on earth.
In Arizona’s Fifth District, Nancy Pelosi-liberal Democrat Harry Mitchell needs to go!
Harry Mitchell is wrong on taxes. He has voted time and time again to raise your taxes, and he wants to raise them even higher with new regulations like cap and trade.
Mitchell is wrong on spending and big-government. He voted for ObamaCare, voted for the bailouts, sides with the unions and the big-spending party bosses. --- And, if that weren’t bad enough, he just packed more than $53 million dollars in pork-barrel earmarks into the budget for 2011.
I am going to defeat Harry Mitchell this year!
I am the only candidate who has the strategy that can win.
I have been tested on the issues that matter most!
I am a pro-economic growth champion who understands how to create jobs by removing government barriers to free enterprise and investment.
I’m a tough-as-nails budget hawk who has always fought to protect your tax dollars and reduce your tax burden.
On immigration, I will not back down. And I will not apologize for enforcing the law.
I cannot be successful without your support! Your investment today means that in Arizona, we will have the resources to take back our country.
Please help support my campaign to WIN.
I am confident, that with your support, we will be one of the strongest campaigns against the far-left agenda!
I truly appreciate your help,

Pro-Life Leaders Favor Hayworth over McCain

FRONT ROYAL, Va., May 20 /Christian Newswire/ – Pro-life leaders with ties to Arizona have endorsed former Congressman J.D. Hayworth in the race for the U.S. Senate–a seat currently held by John S. McCain III, who is seeking a fifth term. Douglas R. Scott, Jr., president of Life Decisions International, was the first executive director for Arizona Right to Life (ARL). Jay A. Nenninger has served as president and executive director of Arizona Right to Life.
“I have had the great pleasure of working with J.D. Hayworth for more than a decade,” said Scott. “No one in public office has been a more enthusiastic supporter and true believer when it comes to our efforts to protect preborn children.” But Scott did not use such glowing words when speaking about McCain. “Convincing John McCain to support our initiatives has always been a major chore. He views the Pro-Life Movement as an unpleasant but unavoidable pain in the neck. McCain defends preborn human beings to the minimum degree necessary to keep from losing the votes of pro-life men and women.” Scott said that, unlike McCain, the Pro-Life Movement has “been able to count on J.D. Hayworth every time.”
“It is wonderful that J.D. Hayworth is running for the Senate,” said Nenninger. “Mr. McCain has supported pro-life legislation only after being dragged kicking and screaming. J.D. Hayworth, on the other hand, has been with us without fail and without wanting to consider the ‘political fallout’ before committing.” Nenninger noted McCain’s support of embryonic stem cell experimentation, saying it is “anything but pro-life.”
Oddly, the ARL Political Action Committee (PAC) has endorsed McCain. The decision has resulted in intense criticism and even some resignations. “I have served on the board of AZ Right to Life for over four years, and its associated PAC for almost that long. No longer,” wrote Rachel Alexander upon her resignation from the PAC. It should be noted, however, that Hayworth has been endorsed by six former ARL officials, including executive directors, presidents and even PAC directors.
Some have suggested that a $5,000 donation to the group by McCain may have influenced the decision. (McCain is praised for the donation at least twice on the ARL website.) KGOV’s Bob Enyart refers to himself as “a fan” of ARL and he hopes the group “gets its act together,” but he wrote that the endorsement “is a black mark on the 30 plus year legacy of pro-life leadership. The pro-life citizens of Arizona might just be better served by a new organization, unadulterated by political ties and financial donations from the people it may endorse.” A commentary in Lighthouse blog, which covers Arizona politics, suggested that ARL’s problem is that it “continues to have less than adequate leadership at the top.”
“It would be impossible for any person with an intact conscience to turn a blind eye to Mr. McCain’s voting record and lukewarm support when deciding whom they should support,” Scott said. “One may offer up any excuse or justification he or she desires, but there is no way that anyone who truly cares about human life, born and preborn, could support the reelection of McCain when a candidate with a significantly more pro-life voting record is in the race.” Scott said members of the ARL PAC who did what he called “clearly the wrong thing” should “be ashamed.”
Scott urged pro-life voters to ask themselves a question. “If Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi had to choose between McCain and J.D. Hayworth, which candidate would they prefer?” Nenninger agreed with Scott’s assessment. “Sending J.D. Hayworth to the Senate would be a great way to show Obama, Reid and Pelosi that Arizona backs true conservatives who value life.”

In desperation, he crosses to the other side

Despicable: McCain rips off the AZ Right to Life website

If you visit the McCain for Senate website right now, you will do a doubletake and think you are on the AZ Right to Life website. After strong-arming the PAC into endorsing him, something I resigned from the PAC over, McCain is now practically trying to pretend his site IS Arizona Right to Life, so desperate is he for support from prolife conservatives. Almost the entire portion of his website viewable in your browser is a flat-out copy of the Arizona Right to Life website. Despicable, considering so many of us who have worked in the prolife movement for years do not consider his 77% Right to Life rating acceptable. Neither I, nor the President of Arizona Right to Life, agreed with endorsing McCain. To have him use our website like that is reprehensible.

large signs
The campaign headquarters was buzzing with volunteers who were shipping out large road signs and small yard signs as quickly as they came in.  Thanks to everyone who worked to haul the bulky signs and drive the heavy metal posts into the ground.

While one group was working on that, another worked the phones everyday reaching out to voters.  Great success is coming from the phones as we identify J.D. supporters and deliver them yard signs and bumper stickers.

We are in the final push of signature collection!
The remaining signatures are due to the Secretary of State by May 26th.  If you have a petition, we want to make sure those signatures get counted.  Please get your petitions to our offices by MONDAY, May 24th - even if it has just one signer.  Remember, before you drop off your petition, please fill out the circulator's information on the back side, this validates the petition.

The Week in Review
Politicsontherocks
J.D. had a busy week traveling and doing interviews.

Last week he was grateful to speak to a standing-room-only crowd at the Legislative District 8 meeting in Scottsdale.

Alan Nathan, host of the radio talk show "Battle Line", interviewed J.D. about immigration, mid-term elections, the Tea Party Movement.

J.D. and Bill O'Reilly discussed the economic impact of SB 1070.

As a guest on "Geraldo at Large" J.D. talked about the relationship between border security and national security.

Then it was off to Yuma for a town hall meeting, after live shots on television, and a couple of live radio interviews the reporters followed him to a town hall at Kofa high school, attended by over 300 people. A reporter from GQ magazine followed him all week long.

He spoke to a Tea Party Rally in the City of Maricopa, did another live interview on the Mancow radio show, talked with Newsweek magazine and was the keynote speaker at the Sun City Vistoso Republican Club in Oro Valley.

J.D. also picked up the endorsement of nationally-recognized radio host Rick Amato during a live interview!
