Tonight: Grover Norquist at Politics on the Rocks

Politics on the Rocks is honored to host Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform on Thursday, December 6th 6:00 PM at The Mint located at 7373 E. Camelback Rd. Scottsdale, Arizona. With the pending "fiscal cliff" this event comes at a very important time in our nation's history. The first 250 guests will receive a free hard cover copy of Grover Norquist's book called "Leave Us Alone." This free event is also our annual Holiday party and is open to the public. Part restaurant, part ultra-lounge, The Mint occupies a 7,000 square foot space that was previously a bank, giving inspiration to the name. In a nod to its past, The Mint’s centerpiece is the original vault door, while updated touches evoke a Hollywood Regency design influence. Politics on the Rocks has partnered up with Scottsdale Healthcare’s unique Military Partnership Program which offers hands-on trauma care training to prepare military medical personnel to treat service men and women injured in battle. A representative from the Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation will be at the December 6th event to sell raffle tickets to raise funds and awareness for this charity. The raffle prize is a Fender Telecaster electric guitar signed by all members of the band "Train." Tickets are $10 for 1 ticket or $20 for 3 tickets. Odds are good because this raffle is only available to members of Politics on the Rocks. Winner will be announced at 12/6 event.

Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) was founded by Grover Norquist in 1985 at President Ronald Reagan’s request. ATR is a coalition of taxpayer groups, individuals and businesses opposed to higher taxes at the federal, state and local levels. ATR organizes the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, which asks all candidates for federal and state office to commit themselves in writing to oppose all tax increases. In the 112th Congress, 237 House members and 41 Senators have taken the pledge. On the state level, 13 governors and 1249 state legislators have taken the pledge. In the words of Newt Gingrich, Grover Norquist is “the person who I regard as the most innovative, creative, courageous and entrepreneurial leader of the anti-tax efforts and of conservative grassroots activism in America . He has truly made a difference and truly changed American history.” Mr. Norquist holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, both from Harvard University. He currently lives in Washington, DC. For more info on ATR check out their website at
